ABOUT US
A New Spirit Behavioral Health Services Foundation operates on the principle “The heart of the family is the wellbeing of its members”. The emotional stability of families produces success in educational outcomes, job performance, social networks, and other areas of human interaction for all family members. The unexpected turns and outcomes in life can interfere with a family’s functioning. The foundation dedicates itself to helping restore emotional balance in the lives of families, children and individuals when challenging circumstances arise.
Our specific focus at the Foundation is to cultivate change and promote resiliency in those family members impacted by the opioid epidemic, the COVID-19 pandemic, and other challenging life experiences. Our team of therapists and support staff work jointly in a trauma informed environment to provide behavioral health and problem-solving interventions designed to meet the needs of those we serve. Every individual and family deserves support to meet their specific emotional needs.
The Coronavirus pandemic has taken center stage in our cities, states, and across the world, but the opioid epidemic remains a threat to our communities. Between January and June of 2020, more than 582 lives have been lost to the opioid epidemic in Philadelphia alone. That means scores of parents, children, siblings and other relatives might be enduring emotional hurdles because of such significant conditions and loss of life. Children’s difficulties could be shrouded by other adverse conditions, missing the traumatic nature of these events.
This pandemic brings with it a different set of challenges, even more deadly, socially limiting, and emotionally stirring. From illness, death, food insecurity, testing frustrations, loss of wages, and threat of evictions, citizens need holistic support. In its 9-month existence in Philadelphia from March to December 2020, 2,224 lives have been lost and more than 8,000 cases have been confirmed. Individuals who contract COVID-19 and survive could incur lasting physical and emotional effects. Both the opioid epidemic and COVID-19 pandemic engender significant hardships for families from the elderly to children. Both are indicative of the profound statement, “lives lost or lives forever changed”.
If you or someone you know is suffering emotionally because your lives have been touched by family members experiencing these illnesses, or other issues, A New Spirit Behavioral Health Services Foundation would like to help. Refer an individual or family today.
At this time, we continue using multiple virtual modalities to help people who are in need of emotional support.
